Psychotherapist

Amy Weidert is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Wisconsin who has been practicing since 2007. She completed her Undergraduate work at UW Madison in Sociology and received her Graduate Degree in Counseling from UW Whitewater. Amy has 16 years of experience working as a school counselor with middle and high school students and uses Cognitive-Behavioral therapy, Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness techniques, and psychoeducation to help students understand themselves better, work through trauma, and support them in reaching their personal goals. Students, colleagues, and friends say Amy listens without judgment and has a calming presence. She works to support clients in improving their sense of self awareness and empowerment. Her practice is grounded in the belief that the client is the expert in their own life and often has the solutions and skills to reach their therapeutic and life goals, and therapists can play a powerful role in helping to facilitate and uncover those tools. Amy draws from personal experience as a parent, professional in the school system, and adjunct professor of counseling in the university setting. She is trained in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and is a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner In Training (SEP-IT). In her spare time, Amy enjoys traveling to places with mountains, knitting, cycling, home renovation, listening to live music, hiking, camping, and gardening.
